Rodney Lay Jr.

Rodney Lay, Jr. – the Southeast Kansas Farm boy – comes from a rich classic country background. His dad, Rockabilly Hall Of Fame Member, Rodney Lay, was the band leader for country music legend Roy Clark for 20 years and appeared as a regular on the TV program "Hee Haw" as well as having had a successful solo recording career with such labels as Capitol Records, Sun Records, and MCA Records. 

Rodney Lay, Jr. has worked with several country music stars including ROY CLARK, MEL TILLIS, GLEN CAMPBELL, AARON TIPPIN, and THE KENTUCKY HEADHUNTERS. He went on a nationally televised tour in Poland and along with co-writer Mike Richards, Rodney won a DOVE AWARD from the Gospel Music Association for Bluegrass Song of The Year. The song, "HE STILL LOOKS OVER ME", was recorded by THE LEWIS FAMILY. Rodney is also the co-founder of the bluegrass gospel group THE CHIGGER HILL BOYS & TERRI whose albums "OH BROTHER...WHAT NOW" & "WILL PLAY FOR PIE" (on Thoroughbred/Daywind Records) have each been nominated for a Dove Award for Bluegrass Album Of The Year. Their song "FACE TO FACE WITH AMAZING GRACE" went all the way to #1 nationally and was also nominated for the Dove Award for Bluegrass Song Of The Year. "GOING AND GONE", a song co-written by Rodney, saw airtime on the hit NBC series "THIRD WATCH". In addition to his music career, Rodney appeared in the movie "UPHILL ALL THE WAY" starring Roy Clark, Mel Tillis, and Burt Reynolds and two of his songs are featured in the upcoming movie "PALO PINTO GOLD".

Rodney was also one of the first songwriter's featured on the The Nashville Network (TNN) show "Country Today" and his first success as a writer came when MICHAEL JACKSON's sister, LATOYA, recorded two of Rodney's songs for her country album project, "From Nashville To You". His most recent success as a country writer can be heard on LEE GREENWOOD's latest CD, "STRONGER THAN TIME" which was released on CURB RECORDS. Lee delivers an amazing performance of Rodney's song, "ONE LIFE TO LOVE". Rodney has written with some of Nashville's top writers including DON GOODMAN (Angels Among Us, Ring On Her Finger - Time On Her Hands, Ol' Red) , DAVID POMERANZ (Tryin' To Get The Feelin' Again, The Old Songs) JAN BUCKINGHAM (Queen Of Denial, I Don't Mind The Thorns), 2 time Grammy Award-winner WAYNE CARSON (The Letter, Always On My Mind), RANDY THOMAS (Butterfly Kisses), DAVE RICHARDSON (At The Sound Of The Tone), BILL SPOONER (founder of the legendary rock group THE TUBES), PAUL MARTIN (former lead singer of EXILE) and Country Music Hall Of Fame member HANK THOMPSON.
